Ranging back to the late 1830&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hill_%26_Adamson\" target=\"_blank\">Hill and Adamson<\/a> used the technique to produce prints using <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Henry_Fox_Talbot\" target=\"_blank\">Talbot&#8217;s<\/a> process. One of their subjects was the fishing village of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Newhaven,_Edinburgh\">Newhaven<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49\" src=\"http:\/\/edinburghlofi.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/newhaven2.jpg\" alt=\"newhaven2\" width=\"610\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.edinburghlofi.com\/events\/photowalks\/20150809.php\" target=\"_blank\">Last summer Edinburgh LoFi<\/a> had an Extraordinary Meeting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Edinburgh_Calotype_Club\" target=\"_blank\">Edinburgh Calotype Club<\/a> at Newhaven, to pay homage to the first photographic society in the world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50\" src=\"http:\/\/edinburghlofi.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/newhaven1.jpg\" alt=\"newhaven1\" width=\"610\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some of the negatives have now been made into Salt Prints and a Japanese bound album has been made to hold them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51\" src=\"http:\/\/edinburghlofi.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/japbind2a.jpg\" alt=\"japbind2a\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/edinburghlofi.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/japbind2a.jpg 600w, https:\/\/edinburghlofi.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/japbind2a-427x640.jpg 427w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Edinburgh has a long history of Salt Prints.
