I originally trained in painting at Edinburgh, about ten years ago changed to alternative photography , mainly self -taught. My favourite process is the lumenograph -I love the slightly mysterious ,Xray quality of the images produced by this cameraless procedure. The subject matter I like best is nature, in particular , plants.
Without sounding too smug, artists and photographers have always been able to observe; lockdown has , I hope , made others look more closely. Where I live, with the Water of Leith near by, on my walks along the paths I love the hedgerows and wildflowers. Recently I came across flowering bindweeds tangling in the fences , a lovely garland . I’ve chosen this plant as my image with four treatments addressing its twisty , undulating habit - so let’s hear it for weeds !
