Time, Place and Light is about experiencing, documenting and being inspired by all that Dunbar provides. Famous for its light, Dunbar is situated in a landscape of historic and geographical significance.
Capturing the “North Light” of Dunbar and exploring how time and place affect the visual memories of a community will be done using some of the oldest photographic processes available. Three lensless processes will be used. Each has a different exposure duration allowing the relationship to develop between time and image. The results should convey both the fleeting nature of life and the timeless record of the land. Textual processes will augment and round the visual results and provide their own individual records of the experience and feeling.
The photographic and poetic processes provide not just the facility to capture the time, place and light but also the ability to make people look afresh at the familiar, which in turn changes attitudes and perceptions. Words combined with images provide an additional dimension to savouring the moods and feelings inspired by place. The project Time, Place and Light engages these dynamics, encouraging cross-initiatives between the people of Dunbar and the wider world.
The Edinburgh Lo-Fi Group was started in 2009 to promote and explore film photography at it’s most amazing. The group comprises of members from all across the UK.

At this initial stage we are searching for locations to install Solargraphs. If you have a windowsill in Dunbar that gets the sun, and can spare a few inches of it for a solargraph canister to sit on, we would love to hear from you.
Have a look at our main website to find out about the other events the group is doing at
