Pinhole Images

A pinhole camera is a simple camera without a lens and with a single small aperture – a light-proof box with a small hole on one side. Light from the scene passes through this single point and projects an inverted image on the opposite side of the box. The exposure duration varies from a fraction of a second to several minutes depending upon local light conditions.

Pinhole exposures will be made throughout the project period of:

  • the Dunbar environment.
  • the solargraph placements.
  • objects in-situ before collecting for use in photograms.

If possible some pinhole cameras will be made using scrap objects found on location.

Worldwide pinhole day – http://www.pinholeday.org/ – takes place on April 29th, 2012 and a practical event will be organised to coincide with this.
