I’m Melissa Mitchell, a visual artist from Johnstone, working across Glasgow and Renfrewshire. I graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2018 with a BA (Hons) in Communication Design, where my practice became increasingly lens-based. I strive to make work that is honest in its depiction of the world. I also enjoy using photography as a tool for self-expression, to connect with others and document communities that are often misrepresented or marginalised within the visual arts. I am currently in a very experimental phase in my practice, where I am exploring different ways of making images in order to further create meaning in my work. My current obsessions include: Cyanotypes, Lumen Prints and Polaroid manipulations.
